Our Swim School provides lessons for pre-school children through to and including STA Improvers with exclusive use of a private pool in Dunswell.
We also offer 1-2-1 lessons for children and adults
Our lead teachers are qualified Amateur Swimming Association and/or Swimming Teacher Association qualified with First Aid and Lifesaving qualification. All team members are cleared by the Criminal Records Bureau with an Enhanced Disclosure together with certification in Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
We provide a unique and professional learning environment for our preschoolers and young swimmers in our own privately owned swimming pool at Dunswell.
The fantastic pool facilities allow us to work with small groups of no more than six in the pool with two swimming instructors. This means they get really good quality teaching and more time for swimming.
Our area of specialism lies in swimming lessons for SEND children and adults. Mainstream swimming lessons can be quite challenging but again we can offer private, one-to-one teaching or small groups with the ability for parents and carers to support in the water if desirable. Our ethos is to treat everyone as an individual, assessing their needs to provide a bespoke teaching plan. Our teachers are all highly experienced and qualified and are simply passionate about teaching this life skill.
We also teach adults who are either learning to swim or want to be more confident in the water. Public pools can feel intimidating and we have found that adults enjoy the privacy of the pool and improve much quicker with the one-to-one learning and support and non-intimidating environment.
The most important thing for all of our coaches is to develop strong relationships with our clients. Our approach is always person-centered with tailored lessons to suit their confidence and ability, there is no one-size-fits-all.

What to Expect
We endeavor to place your child in the most appropriate class to meet their abilities. However, it is difficult to determine initially from a telephone call. Please be assured that our classes are very small and we are able to work with slightly differing abilities, but it may be necessary on occasions to move your children to a more appropriate class that meets their specific needs.
Terms and Conditions
SPORTSABILITY SWIM SCHOOL TERMS AND CONDITIONS - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
COURSE INFORMATION AND NOTICE PERIOD
All swimming lessons are 6 weeks courses unless notified otherwise
2 weeks notice of Cancellation must be given via your Client Hub login before the end of the current 6 week term as notice of cancellation.
If notice is not provided through your client hub login, you will automatically be enrolled on the next 6 week term.
Any cancellations for the current course cannot be refunded. You are committing to the full course of swimming lessons.
You do not need to do anything if you wish to continue to be enrolled for lessons. You will automatically be enrolled on the next course.
Your child will be expected to move lessons according to their progressing ability.
Payment will be due 6 weekly on the first date of each term via Direct Debit. You will receive notification from GoCardless of the date the payment will be applied for.
All communications should be directed through your Client Hub login to allow us to respond quickly
GENERAL NOTES
SPORTSABILITY SWIM SCHOOL :
DO NOT refund any missed lessons by the swimmer that HAVE NOT BEEN cancelled by Sportsability Swim School. It is the subscribers responsibility to attend scheduled lessons.
DO NOT offer refunds for any holidays taken from swimming lessons
DO NOT offer refunds for cancellation of lessons within their current term
DO NOT close for school holidays – we operate 50 weeks per year unless notified otherwise
DO break for Christmas for a 2 week period.
DO require payment to continue to hold any swimming places that are not attended due to holidays and injuries.
DO reserve the right to cancel lessons for bank holidays and unforeseen circumstances
DO refund any lessons that have been cancelled by ourselves due to unforeseen circumstances or bank holidays.
DO endeavour to provide as much notice as possible for any cancelled lessons
DO reserve the right to change days and times of swimming lessons for subscribers to allow for progression of the swimmer within the programme.
Children should change quickly and aim to leave the building within a 5 minute time frame of their lesson ending ready for the next classes arrival
WE RECOMMEND A PONCHO STYLE TOWEL OR LARGE TOWEL TO ENSURE SAFETY AND WARMTH. DRESSING IN ONSIES, PJ'S OR TRACKSUITS FOR SPEED
Please be aware that children can find the new experience to be very stressful – they are arriving at a new pool with a new teacher in a circumstance completely unfamiliar to themselves.
It is completely normally for them to be upset and may refuse entry into the pool. We respectfully ask that the teachers work with your children to gain their confidence – they are very experienced. Please be assured that your child will never be asked to do anything they do not wish to do, but we will challenge them to achieve their very best at all times.
